Teaching Philosophy

As an art educator, my teaching philosophy is centered on developing students’ visual literacy and critical thinking skills while sparking their curiosities and enabling self expression. My lessons teach students to decode artwork; breaking down visual information by examining medium and technique while contextualizing the work within the history of art and culture. In addition to technical instruction, I push my students to think critically about what they see and how best to communicate their own ideas, opinions, and observations.
